Welcome to Cwt Marian, set in a peaceful location 10 minutes outside of Beaumaris, Anglesey. We only have the one shepherd’s hut, so you will not be next to other guests during your stay.
This shepherd’s hut has underfloor heating, a log burning stove, a well equipped kitchen, a bathroom (wc, basin, shower enclosure with a powerful thermostatic shower) as well as a dining table & double bed – both of which can be folded away when not in use due to our clever design.
We have USB ports installed next to the bed for your convenience.
Newly installed April 2024: we now have a wood-fired outdoor bath!
We have a 42” smart TV and WiFi (14Mbps), and a Bose Bluetooth speaker.
The kitchen has an induction hob, a portable mini-oven, a microwave, a toaster, an electric kettle and all the cutlery/crockery/pots/pans/utensils you would expect to find in any kitchen.
The mini-oven/air fryer can be used for roasting, toasting, baking, grilling, and there is also a microwave. There is an under-counter fridge with a built-in freezer plus kitchen cupboard space to store your food items.
Cwt Marian is situated in a private, enclosed paddock within the grounds of our family home, and we have been careful to ensure that your accommodation is positioned with guest privacy in mind whilst still enjoying the views of the mountains and sea.
The outdoor seating area is facing the mountains so you will have an unspoilt view of Snowdonia across the water of the Menai Strait. This area is classed as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for good reason, because in between you & the mountain/sea there is nothing but miles of greenery. We keep sheep in the field opposite the hut, the next field often has horses (with foals every spring!) which are a joy to see, and the field behind the hut usually has a pair of Shetland ponies who like to come up to the fence for a stroke on their noses.
Wake up to stunning views of the sun rising over the mountains and go on a walk from the door, either through the countryside on one of the public footpath routes, down to White Beach, or you can be at the top of Mariandyrys Nature Reserve which surrounds our location – all easily accessible on foot.
Red Squirrel Woodland is all around us and we get frequent visits from the red squirrels and there is wildlife in abundance such as rabbits, woodpeckers, jays, cuckoos, birds of prey and our favourites – a pair of wild Tawny Owls who have set up home in a nearby nest box and can be heard calling to eachother of an evening and seen in flight at dusk. Buzzards are always circling overhead which is relaxing to watch.
The shepherd’s hut has its own private car parking space for 1 car.
We are dog friendly (1 dog max) – we just ask that they are not allowed on the bed, and that they are kept on a lead any time they are outside of the fenced off area.
Disclaimer 1 – to reach us you drive up a country track (approx 1/4 mile) and the track is unsuitable for cars with low suspension. Cars with average suspension height will be fine (we have never had any visitors who have had damage at all), but driving up the track is at your own discretion.
Disclaimer 2 – the hut is ideally suited to couples – a single person is of course welcome to stay too but please be aware the fold away table is heavy to lift so we advise two people should be present to do this due to the weight.
